Hi guys
I am a researcher into ME/CFS and I have to condition. I have joined chrysalis for two reasons. First I have a great deal of experience in ME/CFS as a sufferer and I can provide some advice after 13 years of experience. Secondly I am looking for research participants.
I am seeing a lot of posts here of late where people are sharing the issues that they face as people with ME/CFS. It is these issues that form the basis of my research. I am seeking the day to day issues to try and bring to light what you all share here each and every day (and trust me, I relate to the majority of it).
The goal of my research is to find out what the Australian experience of the condition is. I see comments about Doctors and their approaches, their beleifs, the beliefs of family, the problems of dealing with Centrelink, battling insurance companies, negotiating accommodations with Universities.
I need 250 participants from throughout Australia. Phase I was an interview
with three participants. From that pilot study I interviewed 15 more and I have
around 50 hours of interviews (about 450,000 words in transcribed text).
Now in Phase III I will use a survey instrument that you can go online to do and from there I will collate the statistical data on our experience of ME/CFS in Australia.
The information sheet is detailed at
www.sacfs.asn.au/news/2009/04/04_15_hallmann_research.htm
When I create the survey website I will attempt to set it so that you can come back into the site at a later time to finish it.
My research is sociological in nature. It is about identifying the experience
and confirming it on a larger scale ... hence the goal of 250.
So please ... pass on the information. When you Email me (geoffhallmann@yahoo.com) please send me you name, address, date of birth, home phone, mobile and Email.
You information is confidential. When I complete the Phase III questionnaire I
will contact you. Consent to participate will occur when you sign on to the
site.
Best Wishes
